MSNBC host, Alex Wagner, extended the terrorism battle to the Muslim “world” on her program today. She could have limited to the small number of radical Islamists who stir up or engage in violence.

Here’s what she said on Now with Alex Wagner, “There is, also, this ide that there is a breakage between the American discourse and the discourse in the Muslim world. Specifically relating to America and its role and the relationship between us and the Muslim world and I wonder how,you ameliorate that.

“The fact that the Internet makes things readily available, whether that’s Terry Jones (Florida pastor) and his ideas about burning the Koran and whether that’s how to make a homemade bomb. I mean it’s very hard to monitor this, especially now that some of these regimes that once clamped down on information and information exchange no longer exist.”

Wagner’s guest, Ayman Mohyeldin, an NBC News foreign correspondent, countered,  “Well here’s one thing I would say. I mean we should shy away from using the word, the Muslim world. The Muslim world is 1.4 billion people. You’re talking about dozens of countries, many different political ideologies, many different belief systems.

“To just simply say, the Muslim world, I think is a gross oversimplification. There are Muslim countries that are tremendously close allies to the United States. You have to distinguish between the faith, the politics and ultimately, the behavior of a few individuals.”

There’s no sign yet of many folks refraining from criticizing the Muslim faith for acts of terror, when it is the distorted beliefs and minds of a tiny few that are responsible.
